How have you achieved success?

I have achieved success because I get to do what I love every single day. I have always been passionate about design and I love to express myself through fashion. I never thought of it as a viable career option until I started researching programs in Miami. I attended the Miami International University of Art and Design and that experience really opened my eyes to new and exciting opportunities. I obtained my bachelor’s degree and immediately started working for local designers. I haven’t looked back since.

What obstacles have you overcome in the process?

I think the biggest obstacle I have faced to date is having the confidence to trust my instincts. The fashion industry is super competitive and I knew entering the landscape was a risk. However, I knew that I couldn’t just sit around and let things happen so I have worked tirelessly to get to where I am today and it most definitely has not been easy. There have been many instances where I have felt like giving up and lacked the confidence to push forward. In those moments you need to find motivation elsewhere and do what you can to get ahead.

What drives you to succeed?

The thought of being featured on a New York City runway at a major fashion event. While I love what I do it is also nice to get recognition and have others appreciate how far you have come. I also want to inspire people to follow their dreams. I never thought I would be in the position I am today, running my own business and designing clothes to sell internationally.

How has your definition of success changed over the years?

It may sound simplistic but my definition of success has always really stayed the same. I have always wanted to run my own business and make a name for myself in this industry. Sure my goals have evolved and changed but how I view the business remains. I wanted to be proud of every decision I make so I never cut corners. There is no easy way to the top and I always tell myself this when things get tough.

What has success meant to you?

While my professional career means the world to me, success is also about spending time with friends and family. I will never sacrifice my personal life for my career, but I am at a point in my life where I can be very flexible with my schedule.

Do you have advice for others on how to be successful?

I would say never lose sight of the big picture. It can be really easy to become overwhelmed by minor day-to-day issues, especially when it comes to running a business. But it’s important to remember that every decision you make, good or bad, is a valuable learning opportunity.
