Nitin Bhatnagar is a highly successful entrepreneur and real estate developer operating out of the United Arab Emirates. With over twenty years of experience in the financial sector, Nitin held a wide range of executive positions before co-founding Ellington Group Properties in 2014. Wanting to introduce the concept of boutique properties to the real estate landscape in Dubai, Nitin partnered with Robert Booth and Joseph Thomas who helped him translate his vision into a reality. With eighteen residential projects, Nitin offers both high-rise luxury residences and multi-family communities.
How have you achieved success?
I am infinitely proud of how far we have come since the company’s inception in 2014. My partners and I recognized a gap in the marketplace and since then we have done everything possible to provide our clients access to affordable, luxury real estate in Dubai. Our residences are an ideal fit for what we refer to as a ‘refined lifestyle’ and we offer customized solutions based on individual taste and aesthetic.
What obstacles have you overcome in the process?
Any entrepreneur will undoubtedly encounter challenges along the way. For me, it was balancing too many projects at once. As a full-time business owner, I used to take on more responsibilities than I could reasonably manage, and as a result, my productivity suffered. With experience, however, I learnt that it is best to focus on one idea at a time. There is always time to revisit ideas, when you are more prepared to take on additional tasks.
What drives you to succeed?
My partners and I are always looking for new opportunities. We strive to be innovative and we enjoy the work we do in the real estate landscape. I don’t think any of us imagined that we would come this far in such a small amount of time. We provide affordable luxury, and now have properties throughout Dubai including, Mohammed Bin Rashid City, Palm Jumeirah, and Jumeirah Village Circle.
How has your definition of success changed over the years?
Our definition of success is never the same. It is always changing. When we first started out, we had only several properties. Now, over seven years later, we are operating a total of eighteen properties throughout Dubai. Apart from my professional success, I also value the success my team and I have experienced over the years. We are constantly brainstorming and we value what each person brings to the table. We work well together, and I am forever grateful for my colleagues and all that they do to make our business a success.
What has success meant to you?
Success to me is constantly operating outside of my comfort zone. It can be really challenging to try new things, but risk really does pay off. Thankfully my experience in the financial industry has helped me navigate the real estate market, but every day is different. Each day I am faced with some form of obstacle, but I know so much more now than I did seven years ago.
Do you have advice for others on how to be successful?
My best advice would be to start every day from zero. It is really easy to fall into the trap of self doubt, but it’s important to leave yesterday’s mistakes in the past. If we are always looking back then we are never looking forward. Do your best to learn from other like-minded professionals and always keep going.
