How have you achieved success?

Achieving success is about being determined on the objectives you set for yourself and staying committed until the end. If the objective is too big and hard to attain, then I would break it down to small parts and set a goal for each one of them. Sure, it is a longer process, but it makes it easier for me to stay oriented and productive. Big objectives can become difficult tasks and as a result, we procrastinate or fall off track. For me, it was important to stay committed throughout the process and I kept reminding myself of my end goal and what is it I want to achieve.

What obstacles have you overcome in the process?

The two main obstacles I faced during my process to success were fear and lack of focus. From time to time we have to deal with difficult people, situations, and environment. These are the challenges we face out of nowhere, and we keep asking ourselves “why?”. As challenges are given by the unknown, life wants to test us and to see how far we can go. Fear is resistance, and resistance is negativity. So, by staying positive every day, I became stronger than the resistance and I overcame fear.

The main reasons for a lack of focus for me were disruption, procrastination, and demotivation. Once I fell off track, it was hard to get back on it. I had to keep reminding myself about what is my end goal and what is it I wanted to achieve. What really helped me to overcome these obstacles is by managing my time properly and keeping myself organized. I would set a couple of hours for deep work in the morning and afternoon hours. During the allocated time, I would turn off my cell phone or not answer any phone calls or emails to distract me. Then, I let myself to dive into deep concentration. This way, I was able to finish one task at a time and stay focused. As a result, I would stop me from procrastinating and kept myself motivated.

What drives you to succeed?

Knowing that once I will attain self-freedom, it will allow me to see the world in different colours. We, people tend to have foggy thoughts, or we become cloudy headed without even realizing it. We fall into anxiety and stress which leads to a mental breakdown. This stops us from thinking clearly and letting ourselves grow and explore beyond our limits. One of the causes for that is scarcity or limited resources for unlimited wants and needs. Resources are unnecessary materialistic but can be intellectual, spiritual, or time. Once you start achieving things in life, your path to success becomes clearer and with less boundaries. You become more knowledgeable of things and gain more experience to counter any gloomy thoughts or obstacles, you become stronger. I know that succeeding in life, opens new doors and new opportunities. I will start seeing the world from a different perspective and will be able to make a positive change to it.

How has your definition of success changed over the years?

Over the years I would set aside a goal to accomplish that would help me succeed in whatever I wanted to achieve. Whether it was succeeding at school or being accepted to university or even a milestone at work, the definition of success always changed and will change because of the things we accomplish during the process. In other words, it’s a never-ending story. What is important to note, is what kind of success we want to have. As we grow, we gain more experience and become smarter. We start to develop a different vision to how we want our life to be with a different outlook. I believe in the end, we all want to be happy, which has a strong meaning behind. So, in order to be happy we need to find the right strategy and method every time we set or selves on a mission to succeed at something in life.

What has success meant to you?

For me the meaning of success in the past, is todays definition of personal development and personal achievement. It was always about becoming better, stronger and one step further in anything I do in life. It is the fuel to self-motivation, and a key to another door. Success is another way to explore more and a mirror to look back to remind myself of the uneasy process I had to go through to be where I am today.
